We are looking for an experienced senior smart contract engineer to act as a technical lead in order to help us build and develop various smart contract architectures for our on-chain products, including but not limited to NFTs (ERC-721, ERC-1155), governance/utility tokens, and creator tokens, as well as help strategize on technical direction.

Description

As a Smart Contract Tech Lead, you will work closely with the rest of the engineering team and product managers, and be responsible for implementing and designing the smart contract architecture for a digital asset/NFT marketplace and cryptocurrency exchange.

The position is based in New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA with full-time salary and benefits. Engineers will be based in the office and may work remotely depending on the situation.

Key Responsibilities, Prioritized*:

  • Quarterly OKR setting, against key responsibilities below to be set with direct supervisor
  • Engineering Smart Contract Architecture
    • Lead technical direction for smart contract and backend architecture by architecting on/off chain interactions as well as analyzing performance and trade offs of using external third party APIs.
    • Work closely with other engineers to build out the smart contract architecture to power a variety of decentralized applications, such as a marketplace trading engine and the integration of NFTs.
    • Build, maintain and test core components of our architecture including managing on and off-chain data ingestion, minting/issuance of tokens, and platform tokenomics.
  1. Backend Integration

    • Build strong, resilient, and robust APIs, libraries, and services to power our payment integration services: traditional payment rails, crypto payment rails, and other external SDKs.
    • Work closely with the backend team to integrate blockchain based architectures and on-chain activity with traditional backend architectures and interactions.
  2. Bolster Engineering Practices

    • Collaborate closely with all engineering teams to ensure consistency in understanding of technical requirements and overall work quality.
    • Provide mentorship to your peers throughout the wider engineering team through code reviews and education on best practices.
    • Assist the engineering team in set-up, maintenance and ongoing development of continuous build/ integration infrastructure.
    • Train and support developers to align on source control, through build automation, merge resolution, CI/CD, test automation, deployment based on tools usage and policies, standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extended Web3 and Web2 Knowledge: Candidates must have the technical and strategic acumen to understand:

    • Modern Ethereum Layer 2 solutions (Arbitrum, Optimism, ImmutableX etc)
    • Custodial Wallet Solutions
    • On/off chain data storage and retrieval mechanisms
    • Tokenomics and bonding curves
    • Minting and issuance of contracts
  • Widespread development knowledge:

    • Experience with React, Redux, and other various frontend technologies is a plus.
    • Version control experience with Git/GitHub and branching methodologies, code review tools, CI tools, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
    • Great with unit and functional testing and debugging.
  • Preferred Marketplace Experience: Understanding and experience working in developing a digital asset/NFT marketplace Familiarity with any of the following: API and SDK services, digital wallets, clearing and settlement, lending, etc.

  • Comfort in ambiguous unstructured environments: Building something new comes with significant ambiguity, and we want people that can thrive in that ambiguity. The environment is highly dynamic, and there are no precedents.

Requirements

  • Received a bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or a related technical field, and proven excellence in previous roles.
  • 3+ years of experience with Solidity, Go, and/or Rust.
  • A deep understanding of the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
  • Prior experience deploying complex smart contract systems to the Ethereum mainnet.
  • Be based at the office in New York or LA and be able to travel within the U.S. and internationally on a regular basis as needed.
